Dating wwii helmets
The right side of the helmet has had the national tri-color decal very neatly removed as per 1940 regulations. All three liner retaining rivets and both inserted ventilation bushings are all intact. The helmet comes complete with a blackened leather chinstrap with a pronged natural aluminum fit adjustment buckle and the steel retaining studs intact and is maker stamped and dated 1938. Although this helmet is not mint it is in good condition and this would be one of the hardest helmets of all to find for the advanced German helmet collector.A very nice rare M35 double decal kriegsmarine helmet. The eagle decal has retained about 85% with a few fair sized scrapes and scuffs. This is the textbook ET Kriegsmarine decal with the border around the outline of the eagle.
Most are M35 double decal helmets which are my favourite and are the most desirable.I don’t claim to be an expert in this field but I just enjoy collecting as a hobby like many others around the world. As my interest continues to grow I am now collecting nice examples from further afield. It is finished in a mid tan sand colour but with rust bleed and time has dulled to a beautifully patinated brown colour.
The helmet displays an ET factory applied M.35 bordered Kriegs Adler, the eagle has obvious gold toning and the borderline through the double thickness of the decal, this is very clear around the swastika and to the edges of the eagle’s upper wings, The manufacturers marks are ET and the helmet is a size 66.This is a remarkably crisp M35 double decal Kriegsmarine helmet.
